I have always wanted to give my truck a little boost in speed and horse power, so i am looking into getting an electric programmer. I was looking at bully dogs and the other various brands. But i was wondering if anyone has a brand that they prefer or know that works really well in conjunction with the silverado series. I have a 2005 silverado with the 5.3 vortec.
when i asked about that long ago i was told blackbear or diablo. I went with the blackbear autocal but everyone likes diablo as well so id say thats a safe bet
Most of the many conversations about this topic tend to lean towards Diablo. I'd do a search about this topic, hundreds of threads will be returned. That's what I have been doing... Lots and lots of reading.
The biggest difference is the instant support that u receive by Lew here... Its hard to get that cs from other companies. And he can provide custom tunes at a discount when purchased together!

I think Black Bear also has a cable they can ship you so you can E-Tune with them. But at the end you have to send the cable back leaving you no option of returning it back to stock for service visits. With the Trinity/inTune you can E-tune with Lew and return it back to stock as well as data log any time you want. And yes, every single thread leads to Diablo, it tends to be the best bang for the buck other than the TCM support issue with the inTune. If you talk to Lew, he is going to recommend the Trinity over the inTune anyway mainly because the Trinity has TCM support and all the other cool features.
I'm lucky that I live within driving distance of Blackbear, San Diego, CA area. I got the in person-tune and am very happy. Justin, of Blackbear, does travel, you just have to research when and where.
Autocal is just like an intune but better...tcm support and custom tunes. You don't return anything with the autocal and you can easily reset it to stock for the dealership. Justin at blackbear is the man I have read when it comes to tuning these rigs!
I picked a Trinity from Diablosport about a month ago, I installed the 87 octance tune and it does seem to wake the truck up. Next is to get Lew to work his magic with a custom tune.

True, BBP with the AutoCal for custom tuning is a great choice. Lew can also do custom tunes with one of the DiabloSport tuners for you, just like Black Bear can do. Only difference at the moment is TCM support AND Price! Costs less money to go with the DS, plus you get "canned tunes" that you have a choice of using.
The AutoCal comes empty, with nothing. Can't be used until you have done logs and received your tune back from BlackBear. Either way you will enjoy it. When DS does finally supply TCM support for the inTune the yshould be very comparable.
The sure is TCM Support for the Trinity and I think at least half of the inTune users that picked up the inTune because it was advertised as having (then pushed to 2 weeks after release and so on) TCM support would have dropped the extra change to get the Trinity instead. I also think that the Trinity and inTune are so much easier to work with than anything that requires a laptop hooked up to a car and I would put money down that AutoCal can not tune the car in under 3 minutes like the inTune. I just tuned my wife's 2012 Regal GS with Trifecta and it took over 20 minutes for it to just tune the PCM (It ran like a beast after that, the way it should have been released from the factory).
Yup, to much $ for me though. With the price of inTune I had to go that way, advertisement software, that's why I preordered it.....I'll save the rest for the DS forum so the people in charge see it.
Keep in mind guys, Lew is very reasonable with custom tune prices, can't beat it!
It's impossible to find a "Handheld" tuner that can out perform the Diablo products, even the out going Predator. I can't say that it wouldn't be nice to have some competition for Diablo though.
What is a coustom turn can I do it or dose some one from diablo have to do it and can I just change certain things that I want to or is it a set program. Has any one ever had one on there truck for 2 years or so what are the pros and cons been thinking about getting one just not so sure about it will the truck still last as long 200 000 k miles or more

I am currently waiting for my tune files to come back from Justin using my blackbear autocal with the latest firmware. I will post the results as soon as I get this thing done up and put a few miles behind it to see how its runnin! Cant wait!
