I was told 6-8 weeks. Does anyone know if this is true? I've been reading more like 8-12...Anyone order one lately?

Why June? Better rebates? I get an educator discount or GM through my job. It's 4% below Invoice plus rebates. Right now it's a $1000 rebate and a also get a $500 lease. I could loose out on the $1000 by the time it's delivered though.

The time would depend on what you order. The crew cabs might take longer as they are sourced from Mexico, and the demand is high. I ordered a 2017 Silverado 1500 WT regular cab and had it in a month, even though the 2017 production was just starting in the Fort Wayne plant.

2017 final LD crew production date is 7/22/17, 2018 production start up 7/24/17

Figure 8-10 weeks, its a long way from Silao (near Mexico City) to NY so it will be in transit for about 3 weeks....

DOSP - Dealer Order Submission Process

The weekly process consists of 4 stages.

1. Constraints Distribution - Dealers are informed on constraints to review before placing orders. (A Constraint is a limit placed on specific build configurations.)

2. Dealer Order Submission - Dealers can order on Thursday, Friday or no later than midnight on Saturday. (You can submit orders earlier but you don't know the constraints.)

3. The 4-Pass Process - GM will attempt to place each dealer's orders on Mondays using a 4-Pass process. (At this point a dealer may get more or less than was allocated, if they asked.)

4. Dealer Review - You can review your placed orders for changes or replacements until Tuesday at 9pm ET. That's when the orders are sent to production control. (Note - The order system is down on Sundays for maintenance and that's why the Sat midnight deadline)

Thanks. I ordered on 2-13-17. How do does it take to get to find out if there were any constraints? My dealer told me none of this. All he told me is I will get a VIN in about 4 weeks. I just emailed him for my order number. I called GMC and they told me I can track it that way if I wanted. I don't want to keep calling my salesmen.

If you go to the GMC website, right hand side of page is a link to Chat Now. You can talk to a service rep but keep in mind, the system is down on Sundays. They can set it up so you get an email once a week with updates to your order number.

I know of no known info on weekly constraints except what the dealer gets.

Also the system is not real time, it updates overnight from the days activities, for instance, anything that transpires on Monday won't show up until sometime Tuesday.

Here is a list of the production codes...

ā€¢ 500, this is a dealer stock order code used to order common vehicles. Please contact your dealer to receive an actual active order number.
ā€¢ 1100, Preliminary order accepted (This means your dealer has entered your order into their system but does not mean they have the allocation to submit the order to GM yet. Speak with your dealer to verify when they expect to be able to submit your order for production)
ā€¢ 1102, Preliminary Order added thru web
ā€¢ 2000, Order accepted by GM (This means the order has been submitted and accepted by production. You are now on your way.)
ā€¢ 2030, Order re-edited (if necessary) (This is simply an edit code showing that something on your order has been changed. It does not mean your order has been accepted to production and really does not mean anything beyond your previous status other than a change has been made.)
ā€¢ 2051, Order changed thru Web (same as above)
ā€¢ 2500, Order preferenced (This means that the Order has been moved to the stage that parts department is now ready to place the orders for the components that will become your car)
ā€¢ 3000, Order accepted by production control (This is the response from production to your 2500 status and is when Parts are actually ordered. No further changes can be made to your order once you reach this point.) TPW now known.
ā€¢ 3100, Order available to sequence (This is more or less an inter-office memo from Parts to Production saying all parts are committed to this build, they are clear to sequence them for the build.)
ā€¢ 3300, Order scheduled for production (This is the response to the 3100 status where Production is cleared to sequence and schedule the build).
ā€¢ 3400, Order broadcast (This is when the order is actually loaded onto the production line computers and parts are being staged for the build)
ā€¢ 3800, Order produced (The vehicle is completed and has rolled off the line. A Vin is now available.)
ā€¢ 4000, Available to ship (Vehicle is off the line and available to ship)
ā€¢ 4104, Bailment Invoice (Shipping documents generated)
ā€¢ 4150, Original Invoice Generated
ā€¢ 4200, Shipped (Moved or in process of moving to another location by transport company, see 4300)
ā€¢ 4300, Intermediate Delivery (In combination with a 4200 this is saying that the vehicle has been transported to a vendor or upfitter)
ā€¢ 4B00, Bayed by the shipper (listed anytime a vehicle is sitting parked waiting for next mode of transportation.)
ā€¢ 4D00, Bayed for Quality Control Inspection (Unknown Time frame)nknown Time frame)
ā€¢ 4800, Rail Ramp Unload (unloaded from the rail car and parked waiting to be delivered to dealer)
ā€¢ 5000, Delivered to the dealer
ā€¢ 6000, Delivered to the customer or sale reported to GM
ā€¢ 9000, Order Cancelled
Note - Only the ordering dealer has access to complete details, all others can only see the order status codes above.

Yea I did that chat once. She asked for the order number. Should my dealer have one by now?

Your order has not made into the GM order system yet. If you look at the DOSP I posted you will see it will be tomorrow that GM will pickup the dealer orders from the week of the 13th-18th, if they (dealer) has the allocations to place them. So it will be likely Weds before anything is available on the order and the dealer may not release the order number till then. But when the ordered in entered by the dealer it automatically assigns an order number that will follow it through production.

Nothing is moving yet...

Workbench generates a order number when the dealer specs out the vehicle, however, until the dealer gets an allocation and assigns that order number to the allocation (based on constraints) the order sits at 1100. The individual to talk to in the dealership to find out your order status is the Inventory Manager or who ever does the Workbench inputs, in some cases the salesman is updated and well informed, many are not.

Just went to GMC Chat and talked to a rep, This is what I was told..

Thank you for your order number. At this time your vehicle order has been picked up by GM and is scheduled for production at the plant. The target production week for your vehicle is 3/13/17. Keep in mind that it is subject to change based on plant schedule. The current event code is 3100.

I don't know about now, but I ordered my Silverado just shy of a year ago (middle March) and I took delivery on April 30, so right around 6 weeks. Mine is a crew cab so it was built in Mexico. Maybe the U.S. plants are different.
I looked it up and the GMC crew cab is built in Mexico also. I called yesterday and I'm at the same number, but is set to go on the line on the 13th. It takes only one day to build. I ordered around Feb 12th so that's 4 weeks, then how ever long for delivery. In February there was a $1000 rebate and now only $500. I'm hoping it will change for the better April 1st and the truck comes in that day. If not oh well..

Before I ordered mine, I searched for the truck I wanted up and down the east coast. I figured if I was dropping 50K+, it was going to be exactly what I wanted. I couldn't find the right combination anywhere. Mine is a Siren Red LTZ, tow package, sunroof, heated and cooled seats, BOSE, etc... And I didn't want the factory step bars or the factory 20's which most trucks are ordered with. I'm sure I could have saved some money by buying one off the lot, but I probably wouldn't have been completely happy with it
