I have read that some people just replace the case half. But others are saying if it's rubbed through the damage is done already. That the others end of the shaft is rubbing as well and that just the whole thing needs replaced?
if thats the case he is probably pulling the shafts, cleaning and repacking them installing new boots and slapping them back in. pretty labor intensive. get a quote for shaft replacement, less labor but more expensive parts, so ...
