Re: Installing Cab Lights, Questions First...

... all the lights into a series so there was only one power wire with branches coming off to each light. You can do that with the LEDs cause the draw such low amperage. Same went for the ground, which if I remember right, I grounded to brace at the front of the roof via self tapping screw. I ...

How to view your smart phone on your head unit.

... the USB hub??? The HDMI-to-RCA converter does not need much power to work, but it does require some. The one I purchased gave me the option to draw power via USB or from the wall. I chose USB. Instead of running your USB cable directly to the USB port on your dash, run it to a hub (at least ...

Re: ALTERNATOR/ Battery

You will have to figure you max amp draw then figure what size alt you would need.
Example
1000 watts of amp power divided by 14.4 ideal voltage equals 70 amps of alternator.
Our truck comes with a 165 amp alt I think and max draw from the truck is probably 70 to 80 percent of that.

6.0L rough start/idle

... and I had to have someone jump the truck for me to get it to the dealership. Dealership claims the battery was bad and that there was a 17 miliamp draw on the system but that was ok. So it was a recently purchased battery and I took it back to NAPA to have it exhanged. New battery in gave me an ...

Re: Battery Drain and Locked Out

I did another draw test and noticed that after about a few minutes it dropped from 2.3amps to .15a or 150ma without disconnecting the battery again. Everytime power is lost it goes back up to 2.3amps. So to do the test properly you ...

Re: Battery Drain and Locked Out

... some wd40 in it and didn't help. The lock cylinder feels loose like it isn't doing anything when I turn it. As for the drain. It reads 2.3 amps of draw with the truck off. If I pull the radio fuse it drops to .8 but 800ma is still rather high. I didn't wait 20 minutes but I will go try that now. ...

Re: Battery Drain and Locked Out

As far as draw goes. After market audio has been known to cause issues if done improperly... The newer trucks are supposed to be able to shut things off in low power conditions. And the best is a dual battery with isolator
