I know you're frustrated with the drone/your current setup, but the other option is to make a resonator like the link I posted shows... Could do almost all of it yourself, and might work better than the MBRP resonator if you're willing to give that a shot.

jpcourtney; want to do the same with my cb antenna. Where did you get the mount and do you have a pic or link that shows it? My magnet mount isn't as good as a whip would be.
