another update; We suspect that the broken distributor (see fuel pump post) was the culprit of the "lifter noise." Three different mechanics listened to it and thought it was lifter but it looks like it was a broken rotor making the noise.

... some Nokian Rotiiva on my truck for the same use as you. 90% road and 10% gravel road to go fishing on the weekends. I was pleased with the road noise, which is inexistent. ... not... When truck sits at one place for long and when im about to drive there is little " clicking " feels that i can feel on pedal. Not noise it is just feel. Its like slowly press pedal and "click" feels thru pedal. And after that i cant feel it unless truck sits at one place ...
