Re: 2003 sierra z71 options

No I don't think it would be worth it. But I'll have to make sure the next truck I get will have a g80 in it though.

Re: 2003 sierra z71 options

Haha I know what you mean. Well if you've got a few bucks in the bank, you can always buy and install one. That's a pretty penny right there though. Not sure it would be worth it to spend all that money and then burn the gears up doing burnouts

Re: 2003 sierra z71 options

Thanks for the info. I guess it's not a big deal if my truck doesn't have a locker. It's just more fun doing burnouts with.

Re: 2003 sierra z71 options

From combing through other forums, it seems that the Eaton G80 locking rear diff was factory equipment with the Z71 package starting in 2004. Before 2004, it was an optional piece of equipment. And since it isn't listed in your RPO codes, I'm afraid you don't have a locker.

Re: 2003 sierra z71 options

Well I know my truck is a real z71 but it doesn't have a g80 rear end. I just thought if it was a z71 then it was required to have one. Maybe that was in later years. My dads old 2004 z71 silverado had a g80 and my freinds 2001 sierra z71 has one. Mine is the only z71 that I know of to not have a g80.

Re: 2003 sierra z71 options

http://www.RPOCodes.com
That website has all of GM's RPO codes as well. Hope you find what you're looking for. I took a picture of the codes in my glove box on my phone and looked them up on that website.

Amp Install 2012 Crew Cab

... Fosgate's and installed a Pioneer 3200bt for the headunit. Anyone have any pictures of their amp install that they can upload so I can see what my options are? Less drilling the better. Another question I have is it worth my time to replace the stock speaker wire with a thicker gauge, or can I ...

Re: 2003 sierra z71 options

Well GT4 is for 3.73 gears. My truck has that. GT5 is 4.10 gears. You can google all your RPO codes in your glovebox and find out which one is for your rear end.
