Great info in this thread guys, thanks for posting so much detail.
I'm considering upgrading my 13 CC as well, but just not sure yet if I'm ready to commit the effort needed. Like previous poster said, I know the end result I want, I'm still figuring out how to get there but this is a huge help.

To the original poster it is the steering box replace it and it will fix your prob. Not too bad of a job just make sure you have a Pitman arm puller. I have 2 98k1500s had to replace steering boxes on both of them i hated that feeling ...

Don't think you'll have that big a drop. The tire weight won't be significantly different and the size change is small.
