I have always dropped the pan replaced the filter, then put about 5 quarts of new fluid in and then did the flush procedure. I have never had a problem doing it that way. I guess it could work either way though.

... and the truck needs to down shift, it does it without a problem. It makes me think there is a problem with the accelerator pedal senor. Is there a procedure for testing the sensor?
