Depending on the weight of the trailer and the options your truck has (gear ratio, etc) you should be within the allowable towing weight for your truck. I'd just suggest following the severe service schedule in the owners manual.

I would use the compnine link, to see what you actually have for the g80...hopefully your truck is in there. Most of the time the g80 is a locker but in your case I would check it.
wow! i didnt think they used such high highway gears any more. those were necessary back before overdrive transmissions became the normal unit. 2.73 is the common gear reduction in most transfer cases these days.
