2015 fox 2.5 coil over review

2015 fox 2.5 coil over review

Postby ferraiolo1 [OP] » Nov 02 2016, 1:11pm

About a week after installing my new coil overs and UCAs, I can give an honest review on the $1700 investment.

So far I have tried them on just about every type of terrain, slow powerline rocky roads, fast muddy tower roads, crappy industrial complex roads full of railroad crossings, dug up town roads, and highway.

These things have performed flawlessly, ride is firmer but much more controlled. They are set at a happy medium with the high and low speed dampening compared to the much more expensive fully adjustable 2.5s. Soft enough to absorb the large holes in the woods, but firm enough to handle more like a sports car on the road. With the much greater travel provided with the Cognito UCAs, while going over large bumps your tire is always contacting the road, with all the hooning around I have been doing I have yet to hit the bump stop.

Cons- Cognitos took about 2 weeks to show up, their service is slow. And they charge a good bit to ship by ground
Fox customer service SUCKS, they said they were going to ship adjusted to 2in of lift, they came set at 3in. The people who shipped me the shocks sent the wrong spanner making it a btch to adjust them down to 2.5in of lift. I have been trying to get an answer from fox for a week about the torque of the allen set screw.

The Fox shocks, I bought from liftkits4less. They were pretty good to deal with. I had originally bought the 2.0s from their ebay site, when I called to cancel the order they offered me 11% off the 2.5s. They shipped them for free from Vegas in two days.

$1700 is a bit steep, but it you want ride quality over 6in of lift Its well worth it.

Any cutting or permanent modification of front end components needed with the exception of the new upper control arms? This sounds what I need for my 2016 2wd Silverado. I'm afraid to ask - what does this do to the Chevrolet warranty?

100% bolt on. Cognito says you can cut the bump stops to give more travel then you need to buy limiting straps. And it does nothing to your warranty. All you're doing is installing upgraded stock parts. It's no different than putting a level on.

What size rubber are you running and what's the backspace on those wheels? Looking at same set up.

295/55/20 and 20x9 with a -12 offset. They would rub pretty bad if I didn't have the body lift. they all but touch now.

Re: 2015 fox 2.5 coil over review

Postby Taward82 » Mar 10 2017, 12:33am

I was hoping to do the zone 2 inch suspension lift with the blocks in the rear. Instead of using the strut spacers use the fox 2.5 set at 2.5". Go with either the UCA that zone offers with the strut or the cognito. Heard lots of good about congito. I wanted to run 33x12 or a 305/55r20 on my factory wheels (20x9 +27mm). Going to do the diff drop kit you recommended. Think I will have issues? I see the 2.5" rough country kit states a 285/55r20 max on factory. Figured this would be the same, hopefully better. Wanted a little more meat. Just a pavement pounder to work and back. I go off road 2-3 times a year but want a good system if I'm going to do it. Do it right the first time so you don't have to do it again later. I plan on having this truck a long time so I don't want to **** up my angles or chop the frame. Did you rub fender or suspension? What do you think about hub centric spacers?

You can fit a 33 with minimal rubbing set at 2.5in on the 2014+ trucks up to a zero offset wheel. Look at my thread about the 2016 Silverado with similar set up.

Mine also has a 1.5in body lift. And you will rub if using spacers.
