Graning noise when turning at low speed

Postby Topher [OP] » Jun 30 2012, 12:51am

I have a 1998 GMC 1500 4x4. I bought this truck about 2 months ago from a less than honest private seller. I have already put a new transmission into the truck and am now noticing a groaning noise coming from the front end when I turn at low speeds. I've heard a few possibilities including ball joints, wheel bearings etc. I'm just putting it out there in case anyone has had the same thing and found a solution.

Where does the noise sound like it is coming from? It could be anything from a bad wheel bearing to just tire noise.

Typical of bearings, but dont bank on it. Jack the front end up and spin the tires on the front, they shouldnt roar....
