How much lift will I need?

How much lift will I need?

Postby Nbomb [OP] » Nov 16 2012, 7:43pm

I am looking to get a set of 33-11.5X18 tires. How much of a lift will I need in order for them to not rub or cause any problems turning. I was going to just install a leveling kit, but the more I think about it the more I don't think that will be enough. Any input will help. By the way, I currently have a 2013 Silverado 1500 Z71 LTZ. Would like lift kit suggestions as well. If I have to lift it, I would like to have the smoothest ride I can get out of a lift kit.

Check out Rough Country's 3.5" lift kit. There is a few threads about the kits and they either come with/without new upper control arms. That kit for sure will definitely clear 33s. And it also uses your stock suspension, so you will keep your factory ride.

Definitely will have to check that out. Will 33's not look too small though with a 3.5" lift. I know a leveling kit is only about 2" difference in the front. But I don't like the look that some trucks have when they are lifted but ppl have too small of tires. I think it looks funny.

I have a 2" level and 1.5" body lift....the tires are 32.6 x 11.2 on +18 offset wheels. So that's pretty much what you'll be looking at. Hope that helps.

I have the Rough Country 3.5" lift as mentioned above with 305/55R20 which I think it is somewhat close to 33s. Mine are on stock 20s though. I'm not completely sure. I did not change the upper control arms out I did the kit that kept mine that I already had.

*Edit* while I am still able. I don't rub any plastic whatsoever with 305s. Just in case you were wondering.

Nice shot of your truck Jeff that looks awesome! Great photography man! Oh, and I was told that with a 2" Level I could get either 305/50r20's or 305/55r20's on my truck. The first is 12"W X 32"H and the second is 12"W X 33"H

it all depends brother on what rim your running as well...a 305 is 12" wide and it all depends on what your looking for a 285/65 r 18's is about 11.5"Wx32.5" tall tire...i ran this size on a 2" leveling kit without rubbing because of the stock offset of the rims i had...
i went with the 3.5" lift not by rc but same concept after wards which is my sig pic that is with 285/65 R 18's
i went up to a 305/65 r 18 which is a 12" wide x 33.6" tall tire.... i didnt run on stock rims only at full lock on the sway bar...i went and purchased 18x9's with a 00 offset and it rubbed in reverse so i had to trim a bit of plastic...ill show pics and explain

This is my 2010 truck with a 2" leveling kit (Wish I went with the 2.5") It only took like an hour and a half my brother and I doing it, probably could have finished it quicker if Beer hadn't been involved. I do rub, just a little, and I have a picture showing you where It rubs. It rubs on the Away Bar and only in full steering lock.

This is where it rubs, tire meets the away bar:

Hope this helps!!!
