Issues with alignment using cognito uca

Issues with alignment using cognito uca

Postby Odigrant [OP] » Apr 21 2017, 4:06am

Ok start off with my set up,
2003 GMC Sierra 1500 Sle 4x4, has 1.5in zone body lift, torsion key lift and 2in blocks in the rear, 33x12.50 Cooper stt pros, on 15x10 steelies with 1.5in spacers.

I recently purchased cognito upper control arms, with there limit straps for my setup, as well as rare parts inner and outer tie rod end setup.
Installation was a breeze no issues till it came to the alignment. I do everything to my vehicles, i am a certified technician, work at a shop that has it all. I do all my alignments and never really have ran into any sort of problems like this.

I set my alignment the best I could, couldn't even get anywhere near to what cognito wanted for there specs, struggled to try and get green on the factory specs.

I guess what I'm trying to say is my truck drives horrible, pulls hard left I know it's due to my caster, I just can't get it any closer I'm maxed out on my adjustments. Could I possibly have these control arms on the wrong side?
I know when doing research on control arms before my purchase I noticed cognito stated they designed more caster built into the arms to help stabilize the vehicle more on the Rd. I seem to have that exact opposite effect, not knocking there arms just trying to enjoy driving my truck again. Thanks for reading any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Control arms on these trucks are not centered. It is pretty likely you have them on the wrong sides

As far as the suspension, all you really did to mod it was add keys? Did you buy extended arms or stock arms?

With it being that equal in caster angle it would reflect what I said above

That's my concern, there was nothing in the directions about what arm went on which side. Looked online at some installed on trucks with the cognito logo on the ft side of the arm. That's what I went with. Hoping that was the correct move.

As far as mods on my ft end would be the cognito tubular UCA with no dual shock bracket not extended in anyway that I'm aware of, rare parts inner and outer tie rod ends, Moog idler arm and pitman arm and lift keys three turns down from max Bilstein 5100 shocks for 2in lift.

Is it just me or does your CV look like its angled towards the back of the truck? and just take your factory UCA and hold it up to that one and see where the ball joint center sits.

Your funny and apparently have no help or advise. I would greatly appreciate it if you were to take your negative comments else where. Nobody is perfect not everyone knows everything. Not even master techs.
