Leveling kit advice

Re: Leveling kit advice

Postby damagecrab » Feb 02 2012, 3:03am

Just got some REALLY bad news. Apparently, RC doesn't make a leveling kit for 2WD Trucks as old as mine. I can either lower the rear end (uhh... no thanks) or spend $400 on a 3" suspension lift. Now, I did find other kits for my truck (pro comp, daystar) but they require spring compression along with almost complete dis-assembly, which is beyond my capabilities (read: more money out of my pocket) :x .

I am, of course, going to continue my due diligence; however i would like to know if any of you out there had any suggestions. :|

i reccomed the upper coil spacer for that reason...

picture 4 (after the leveling kit) & 3 is my before pics of my truck before the 2" under strut spacer was installed

i will ask does anyone know if my cv axle is at to much of an angle or should i say screw the head ache and leave it alone...half the people i talk to say drop the diff others say im fine because i havent taken it off road and havent even tried the 4x4 since i bought the vehicle..

IMO it's a bit of an angle, I would probably play it safe and throw a spacer in there. The time and money spent on the spacer will be cheaper and easier in the long run. Been there before.

No one has had any trouble with the 2' rc right? Sorry I'm not of any help but this is on topic so I figured I'd post here as well.

Ive read where some guys have had ball joint issues, but i doubt they can definitively blame the 2" spacers! Anytime u change stock geometry ur risking premature failure(as if it wouldnt happen anyway) i feel a "bad" ball joint will simply become "bad" faster is all! I dont think its a matter of turning a good one bad :/ if that makes sense

Thank you, makes sense I'll just make sure I inspect it every so often. I assume if I check it and nothing happens at 500, 1000, and 3000miles then it isn't anything the kit did.

MadHatter wrote:good info in this thread... im planning to put the bottom spacer on (prob RC) an take it to the dealer to align.. BUT. wasnt sure if the torsion keys played any part in the install?? anyone know?

Clownshoes.. from everything i have read about leveling on here, if you do a 2inch the bottom spacer is good but for any more (2.5, 3.0...etc) you would need top an bottom.

heres a good vid on how to install an save a few steps.. this is how i plan to do mine.

BUMP for this video.

Anybody considering doing the lift or paying somebody save this video to your favorites and use it when the time comes.

Just did my RC list using this video and it is the way to go. Didn't refer back to the instructions that came with the kit, watched this and made it easy.
