leveling kit and body lift, max tire size???

Postby jodysilverado [OP] » Oct 22 2011, 3:58am

Hello, i have a couple questions pertaining to a leveling kit and a body lift. I know this question has probably already been asked but i was not able to find it specifically for my application.

I am looking to put the max size tires as possible on my truck, 2009 silverado crew cab 4x4. I plan on using my stock 17 inch rims. I was thinking about doing a 3.5'' leveling kit and a 1.5'' body lift. This will give me roughly 5'' of lift. How close will 35's (315 70 17) be to fitting with little to no rubbing?

The second part of my question. I know a lot of people say do not go over 2'' with leveling kit due to damaging front end parts. I have found a kit on ebay that includes the following: lift spacers, lower shock spacers, differential drop spacers. Do these additional parts protect the front end of my truck enough where i can trust it on my truck without damaging my truck?

I know i am being a cheap ass but if these kits combined will let me clear 35's then i will have less then $400 in this.

I appreciate any assistance with this.

I believe that you will clear 35's. However, it will not be easy on your suspension at all. There are going to be some angles that the truck will not like. Not planning on much off roading, I hope. That will stress things to the point of breakage for sure.

It would prolly work but to be honest you would be way better off in the long run just saving up for a decent 6” lift kit. Plus it would be a lot better on your truck. Just my 2 cents

Appreciate your replys.

I do not plan on doing much or any off roading, more for looks.

So even with the additioanl parts of the leveling kit the truck is still at risk of being damaged?

What is everyones opinion with the zone offroad leveling kit and bodylift for $200. Includes 2 inch leveling kit and 1.5 inch bl.
Good price, is it worth it? Will it do much damage
To front end? Whats the chance of fitting 35 inch tires?

Thanks

i wouldnt worry much about buying the whole kit, just buy the blocks for the front, i believe you have springs up front right? if not just crank your torsion keys up to level it to the rear(itll save you about 100 bucks), but not too much. i over cranked mine and almost had a wheel off on the highway. zone makes great lift blocks and are the only company that gives you EVERYTHING with the lift, and very detailed instructions of the install, if it will hardly ever see the offroad thats your best bet. if youll go mudding or wheeling every now and then, then save your money for a 6" lift.

How did you almost lose a wheel by overcranking your torsion bars? By owercranking do you mean bottoming out the adjustment bolt?

I lifted it 3 inches instead of 2, I still had a inch on both bolts, put the wheel bearing in too much of a bind and it Locked up, beyond my knowledge and I was driving down the highway at my usual 90 mph and all of a sudden the wheel jerked to the left luckily I'm used to driving at high speeds and doing alot of close vehicle maneuvers. It damn near tipped but I got to the side of the road and the drivers front wheel had more negative camber than my brothers bagged mini truck. When I got it home took it all apart and there was no bearing, hardly a spindle left. The thing that gotmy attention was a second before it happened my abs light came on.... It had ground it out an then bam it happened the only thing holding the wheel on was the nut holding it to the cv. So when I say just make it LEVEL I say that by experience.

So, you didn't have it aligned after you cranked up the bars?
