small lift for new chevy/sierras

leveling kit/body lift

Postby jogden14 [OP] » Nov 10 2010, 12:01pm

I currently own a 2002 Silverado Z71 with the 2.5 inch torsion key leveling kit and I fit 305/70R16 and I like the look (pictured on here). I am currently selling it and looking to buy a 2008 or newer Silverado/Sierra. I want to lift it a few inches without putting a whole suspension lift kit on it. I just want to run 33's and have the truck sit a little higher. I just was seeing if others have done both the leveling kit and a body lift for a few extra inches or if people have any advice on what to do. Any pictures or advice would help. Thanks.

Welcome to the site.
Nice picture of you 2002.
No personal experience here on body lifts, but a friend of mine did one on his 04
He regretted it after. It effected his overall handling of his truck in combination with his susp lift. He later removed the body lift which fixed the handling problem.

yeah that's what I was thinking. I don't really like the way you can see the frame underneath the truck easily and the gab in the wheelwell. I like the stance I got on my 02 right now but I would like a little bit more clearance. Not sure quite yet what to do. I will probably go with they keys but haven't seen any newer silverado's with just the torsion keys and tires. If you see any, let me know. I got a few months til I am going to buy the truck due to being deployed until May 2011. We'll see.

I did the torsion lift on my 2004 Colorado. Never had an issue, but the ride was definitely rougher. I think I am leaving the Sierra as-is.

i have an 02 just like yours but i got the 3in body lift and the tortion keys and my truck handles great doesnt pull at all. for the body lift you put the wheel well extenders and it looks stock. i fit 315's on my truck with no rubbing. the only think i dont like is the truck responds to a bump a lil more than stock.

I could be wrong, but I think with NBS 07 and up use a strut spacer not torsion keys like the old ones and colorados. I've been looking into it, and if you just want to fit 33's you can probably just get a 2.5" levelling kit. look up Ready Lift, Rough Country, Daystar, they all make kits, I just can't choose.

I did the level on my 2010, take a look at my pics for before and after shots. Im running 305/55/20 on a 2wd so i think 33's on a Z71 shouldnt be a peoblem. I did trim some shroud just so i would make sure there is no rubbing
