Leveling Kit

Postby mstapper [OP] » Jan 05 2012, 4:32pm

Hey All,
Just brought home my new 2011 ext cab Silverado 1500 (traded '09 3/4 ton). Wondering what leveling kit you recommend to maintain factory ride as best as I can. I plan on putting a plow on the truck. Also I have herd/read talk of coil spring and torsion kits. HELP PLEASE, thanks.

I have an 03 and my wife as an 11 2500. I put a 2.5" torsion key kit on mine and it destroyed the allignment but the ride is essentially the same. The cheapest and easiest route is torsion keys.

What are the torsion keys? does it raise the front up much? will it void my warranty? thanks guys.

The new 1500's don't have torsin bars so you have to use a kit that either goes above or below your coilover

here is what im running...new body style take the coil spacer or the spacer on the bottom of the strut...not a 1:1 ratio so if you have a 1" block might be a 1 3/4" lift but my ride didnt change a bit and definetly get an alignment directly after the lift.installed myself and it was very very simple

lilmagoo where did you get your leveling kit/ what kind is it? Also is the ride the same? I crankced torsions on my '09 2500 and hated the ride. Thanks.

that was just a cheap ebay kit, it kept the exact same ride as stock I have not one complaint about it lol came with nice instructions...all hardware neccessory worked perfect.... it took me about 2 hours to install the first side took me about an hour and a half because i was scared of breaking stuff and what not and the other side took about 20 minutes because i knew what to do...

yeah i had a 98 with torsion keys and a 03 dodge ram with them i cranked them up on both and the ride got really stiff, nothing like that on this one...i highly reccomend it if your just looking to level it...other wise i would go with any of the kits that come with the top spacer the bottom spacer and rear blocks to give you a total 3 inches in the front and 11/2 -2" in the back...
