Another leveling kit question..

Leveling kit with shocks?? any good?

Postby 99CivicSiR [OP] » Feb 04 2012, 4:54pm

Looking at buying this kit on ebay, just wondering if anyone has this kit on their 2006 or older truck.

I want to make the truck sit a little higher so i can fit a bigger tire, i don't plan on doing any major offroading or mudding, just on a few dirtroad/4wheeler trails to my woodlot.

I'm wondering if i should buy this kit with the shocks, or buy a kit without them?
Are the shocks any good?
If i get this kit, should i put them on when i put the kit on or wait until the stock ones are done?

Here is the ebay link:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2-Suspension-lif ... 4ab349b823

Its a Rough Country level kit with:
# (4) Nitro 9000 shocks
# Maintains stock ride quality
# 2-3" adjustable front lift
# 2" Forged Rear blocks with U-bolts
# all hardware is included, the kit comes complete
# Allows for up to 35" tires to fit without rubbing

Dude...35"? Maybe in the back, but I don't believe it for the front. Not to mention it doesn't say anything about 35" tires on the web site:
Rough Country Lifts '99 - 06

Besides, for $10 more you can order straight for the product maker and get full telephone support. They know their products...give 'em a call.

I don't plan on running 35's, just a tire that will be in proportion to the trucks stance and lift.

If i call them, they are of course going to say their shocks are a good product.

I'm just wondering if anyone bought this particular kit and if the shocks are any good, or if i should stay away from them(shocks) and just replace the stock shocks with something else whenever they go.

I don't plan on doing any major offroading or towing/hauling anything heavy, at most it might be some firewood/or lumber, or the occasional 4 wheeler or dirt bikes.

I bought a pair of shock that are a sister brand to these for my Avalanche that I had got about 1 1/2 inches out of the stock keys. They lasted less than 3 years and my passenger side started to leak a little and was making noise when I traded the truck off. But for the price of the kit, not a bad deal. Just don't expect a top of the line shock.

BTW, I used my Av for the same thing you did. I had 20 inch wheels so i didn't get much off-road, other than the muddy road going deer hunting one year.

Re: Supreme suspension level kit, shock ext brackets???

Postby 99CivicSiR [OP] » Mar 13 2012, 3:58pm

Been looking at this particular kit on ebay, Supreme Suspension, 2-3 inchs front, 2 inch block in the rear, with shock extension brackets.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/99-07-Sierra-Sil ... 3a6b13168e

The shock extension brackets,....
are they worth it,
will they be worth putting them on compared to a lot of the kits that don't have them,
would they be a pain in the ass causing more problems down the road???

Sorry for all the questions, most of my truck buddies are trying to convince me to just put at least a 4 inch lift or bigger on my truck, but i want to be able to get it in my garage still.
