Max tires size with a leveling kit

Max tires size with a leveling kit

Postby LTRboy27 [OP] » Aug 25 2011, 4:11pm

I plan on buying some 20x12s very soon and eventually a 7 inch lift but for now might just get a leveling kit 2-3 in front and 2 in rear, question is could I clear 35x12.50-20s??

There are a ton of posts here about lifting and levelling. You really ought to read through them, there's a lot of good info.

One observation, if you're doing a 2-inch lift in front and a 2-inch lift in back, you aren't doing a leveling kit. You've just raised the truck up two inches all the way around. If you add the 2-inch lift to the front only, that is a leveling kit. That said, 33s are as big as I would go with only a leveling kit. No rub.

I have been reading some of the other posts i think im just going to do a 2-3 inch leveling kit and put some 305 20s on it for now do yall think I can clear some 20x12s with a -44 offset with it leveled or possibly turn up the torsion bars a little tighter in the front after the leveling kit is installed

33x12.5 probably will rub. I have 33x11s and they almost rubbed. I had to take the OEM mud flaps off to keep one of the front tires from rubbing.

33's max (depending on how agressive the tread is)

I think you should be fine. My buddy ran 285/75-r16 on his 2003 2500hd which is the same body style as your 2004. They measure to right around 33" and all he did was crank up his stock torsion keys. No rub or anything.

Re: Max tires size with a leveling kit

i know im new to the thread, but ive been studying the whole max tire size situation for awhile. i have the 2 inch level on my 06 and 33's will fit with no rub. im about to put a 1.5 inch BL and stuff some 35's i know im going to have to trim some stuff but with the 1.5" spacers itll fit. the guys at the 4wd shop said it wouldnt be done without a min of a 4" SL which im going to love the look on their faces when i show them lol. but back to your question just make sure that you are 100% sure on the backspacing /offset on your new wheels because of the width difference in the new tires vs stock. oh and you might want to try and lift your truck with stock keys before buying "lift" keys cause the ones i bought were the exact size of my stock keys. and another thought, dont thing just because you have more threads on the bolts you can keep jacking it up, i did and i locked my wheel bearing up and nearly had a wheel-off/rollover on the freeway (90 mph) leveling is fine but dont over do it. let us know how yours goes for ya.
