No height out of torsion key

No height out of torsion key

Postby mark_price_ga [OP] » Feb 23 2012, 4:19am

I went to my local motorsports store and had new torsion keys put in. They said it would raise my front end up 2 inches and level out my truck but, after I got it home I measured it and the front is still 2 inches lower. I looked under my truck and the new keys are in and the bolts are turned all the way. Why didn't my front raise any?

Umm not quite sure I understand this. Leveling kits only lift your front end to match with your rear. It is normal for your front to be slightly taller than your rear.

My front end started out 2 inches lower than my rear. after the keys, the front is still 2 inches lower than the rear. Plus, before I brought it in my torsion bolts had about 1.5 inches of threa showing. Now they have none. They are all the way up. But the front end didnt move!

Might want to think about revising your first post this is what was confusing "the rear is still 2 inches lower".
With that aside where did you buy your torsion keys from?

oops, sorry about that. I didnt buy them. The motorsports store ordered them. They were the ones that suggested them when I told them I wanted to level out the truck. You think the keys are wrong?

That's what it sounds like to me man. With new keys it definitely should have brought that front end up. Umm man that sucks. You said you have tried cranking on them right? Actually you should not even have to they should have done it. If you ask me that is a poor shop. I put a leveling kit on mine and I got great results. Somebody did you wrong man. How much did you pay for them (if you don't mind)?
And not that it matters but just out of curiosity did they put on shock extenders at the bottom of your shocks?

from the picture the truck looks fairly level, just an idea but try unbolting the shocks maybe they are fully extended. but first raise a little hell with the shop that installed them... they should have checked their work

To me personally it sounds as if the shop tried to cheat you maybe and put a set of stock keys they had laying around. When i took mine to be leveled i brought the keys(I bought the cheap ebay ones) and they told me they wouldnt work but ended up they did great. Only difference in mine and stock was a slight angle on the key. you couldnt see it unless you really looked.

They had to order them from somewhere, I had to wait 4 days for them to get there. When they did they cost me 175 bucks and 50 for installation. The truck rides fine and the bolts under the keys are all the way up. There are no spacers in the springs. Not sure what the deal is.
