Rough Country Leveling Kit - Aluminum Control Arms or No?

Postby Rymanh24 [OP] » Mar 05 2011, 4:21pm

Hey guys, I got a 2011 Silverado LT, Rough Country's website now needs you to know if you have Aluminum Control arms or not. How the heck can I tell? And what do you guys have on your 2010 - 2011 NBS Silverado's?

Hmm, are you looking at just the leveling kit or the 3" kit? I know that their 3" kit has the option of getting new upper control arms. But I dont see what it would matter what your factory ones are made of if your just doing the front spacer.

Yeah I don't understand it either. It is for the leveling kit. When I was looking at getting the RC Leveling Kit about a month ago, this was never questioned or an option. It must be something new because I don't remember them asking me this question before.

Rough Country Leveling Kit - Aluminum Control Arms or No?

See if a magnet sticks to them. If so, they're not aluminum.

Yea i didnt get asked either when I bought mine 2 months ago. Make sure you are looking at the leveling kit and not a lift kit or something. All the leveling kit consists of is a piece "plastic, use this term lightly" that bolts on under your shock and above your swingarm.

I did the magnet thing. 08 1500 LTZ 4x4 Z71. I was hoping an RPO code would answer the question but in the end, after I sounded like a total idiot on RC's customer service line I just unscrewed a mag off the house alarm system and checked it. Refrig mags from the Pizza house in town didn't do the trick. You will love the look.

PS, put the magnet back...

Cheers
