sounds for 2wd front end

sounds for 2wd front end

Postby kabota [OP] » Dec 09 2011, 5:53am

new to the site. very happy so far. 2007 classic 2wd had steering shaft at dealer replaced. still having a noise when hitting road bumps and defects. new shocks were installed a month ago. is it something that is with a 2 wd truck. been a while since a 2wd truck. it seems by the noise that something is loose or not tight, but dealer said everything is ok. any help would be welcome. thanks from pa.

I know they had a TSB out for the shaft, but if they did that repair it should have fixed it. Can you describe the noise/feel better?

thanks for the reply. it sounds like something is loose or wiggling. sometimes it feels like it comes threw the steering shaft or complete steering assemly. the dealer said it checked the complete system. ball joints, rack and all related items. you feel it when you hit say a small pot hole or on a dirt road the has the wash board effect to it. the truck has 71000 miles on it. also i am thinking of a 2 inch lift for front. the coil spacer or spindle. what would you use. thanks again for replies.

I'd say it is definatly the steering shaft problemn that GM has had for years. It's more of an annoyance than anyhting. What you describe is how mine felt before I had mine fixed under warranty. As far as the lift, it all depends on how much you want to spend. I think if all you want to do is make it more level, the spring spacers would work fine.
