Steering wheel off center

Thanks for the help, fellas! Is this something the smaller shops can do, or must I run the risk of being ripped off at a national chain :(?

Doesn't matter the name of the shop as long as they do quality work and maybe check and see what their policy is if you alignment walks in the near future? some shops will have you bring it back and fix it for that cost without charging you for another alignment . . .

We see the steering wheel thing with our ambulances all the time the shop that does the alignments doesn't check the wheel for straight as they disconnect things to align the suspension.

Jon, I have had very good service from the Tires Plus in Woodbury, MN. I take all 3 of my vehicles there for alignments, tire balancing, etc. Never disappointed.

I took a chance at the local Firestone... they've done good work in the past, but they're about as good with money as a liberal in government is- always wanting more  . $95 later, I'll give them a passing grade. The truck was about 5 MPH off to the right before (using the speedo as a reference for the steering wheel), and now it's about 2 MPH off to the left. The truck has about 115,000 miles on it, so I'm not expecting the steering to be as good as a Corvette's.

They gave me some nice diagrams, showing the before and after alignment, but for some reason, the website isn't uploading them :( . I'm not an expert in reading these things, but 7 out of the 10 categories were out of whack before, and now they're all within tolerance. One interesting thing is, the "Total Toe" on the after diagram shows 0.03 degrees to the left... before, it was 0.47 to the right. Maybe that explains some of the off-center feel on the steering wheel.

They printed them for me, and I scanned them to the computer. For some reason, they won't upload to the site, though.

*Edit*

I figured out how to upload (through my personal gallery):

Glad it worked out. For the record, Jon, I have been totally ripped off at this particular Firestone facility. I will NEVER go back there again. I hope the employees are not friends of yours...not trying to get on them, just had bad overall service and follow up from them.
For the record, you will never see the tolerances exactly 0.00. It rarely happens, just based on the capability of the machine.

That doesn't surprise me, Eric. When I arrived to drop the truck off yesterday, there was a customer at the front desk, all angry with the manager about all the work they wanted to do on his car. I know that paying that store for work is like playing with dynamite... but my favorite shops were closed :(.
