STREET TRUCK

STREET TRUCK

Postby SMOKE [OP] » Jan 22 2012, 9:30pm

What are the crowd with street trucks using for traction devices other than sticky tires. I thought of trying slapper bars but there must be something better out there. Thanks in advance for all replies .

For corners I would use Helwig's larger front and rear sway bar kit and I haven't really looked into launch traction yet, with a mild 5.3 and the 3.42 rear I really do not have launch issues unless the roads are wet. Traction bars might work but will look a little odd (at least to me) on a modern truck. I will look around and see what I can find.

rdss thanks, I guess I'm old school by calling traction bars slappers. Your right on with the Helwig bars. Im going to install the rear sway bar and Bilsteins at the corners. Traction is a major problem with the 6.2 and 4.10's and with all the mods, tuned its putting almost 375hp to the tires. It's a bad year for the Goodyears. Man its a fun driver.

Yeah, I knew exactly what you where talking about though, I had a set on my 65 Mustang when I was a kid. I forgot to add that a good set of adjustable shocks go a long way, but you already have the shocks covered.

x2 on Caltracs - there are people running some serious 1/4 mile times in highly modified trucks using those successfully.
