SuperSprings vs Air Bags

Postby MaineZ71 [OP] » Aug 16 2012, 3:18pm

Any one have the Super Springs on their ride? Pros and Cons. Im thinking that I like the "set it and forget it" aspect of the Super Springs. Whats your thoughts?

If you are hauling heavy and going to do it a lot, air bags are the way to go. Can't beat the adjustability and ride quality either.

Looks like the SS setup would work well, might be noisy tho.Air bags are fine, you just need to carry an air compressor around,if they leak a little. The ones I have seen do,after a while..
I would have another leaf added,a progressive leaf, that when you hooked the trailer up,it would settle on the extra leaf.
What part of Maine are you in? Portland Spring in the southern part,Or Harry J Smith,in Waterville are 2 I have don a lot of business with. They can fix you right up.

Glad to see another Mainiac on here. You can always use a Weight Distributing hitch, which is a good idea anyway. You may find you will not need any extra spring. It depends on the trailer you get,and the tongue weight.Run around the local campgrounds, and talk to people with similar combinations, get a feel on what they are using.
I have towed for 30 years, with all sorts of trucks, and trailers.I myself have never used wd hitches.Have always had enougth spring to handle the load,or added a leaf or two.Have not seen airbags that I thought worked well.
