Wondering ??

Torsion bar wear?

Postby 2nd Hand Old Guy [OP] » Jun 07 2011, 7:04pm

I am wondering if my 2002 torsion bars would be worn enough to make noise?
66,000 miles Also if they do wear, can I take them up a turn or two on the screws? OR duh duh da.? :?:

I have never really heard of torsion bars wearing out and making noise.

Thanks! dang , I have replaced the engine mounts, broke clear off, front shocks and still have a clunky noise. Transmission mount looks good but will do it next.
Why don't you make a small side trip down here to check it out ;=)

Torsion bar wear?

Ball joints? Front end tight? Control arm bushings.

Try cranking your t-bars almost 1 full turn ( clockwise ). It will relocate your keys, and raise your front end about a 1/4 inch. Some aftermarket keys have been know to creak but have never heard of stock keys making noise. If it still makes noise you can rule out your t-bars as the problem. Hope this helps,,
