Truck making noice..

Truck making noice..

Postby chevygirl2009 [OP] » Jan 23 2012, 3:12am

My truck has started making a funny noise every once in a while. The other night, a friend and I was in my truck and it made a thump noise that sounded like it came from the front passenger side. At that time it done nothing. However, on my way back home, it made the noise again and it tried to kill my truck. Since then when it makes the noise, my truck dies? Any answers??

When's the last time you replaced the shocks? They should be holding the front end off the bump stops in the front. I think there should be an inch or two of clearance.

Ball joint or tie rod end, especially if it is a deeper "clunk" sound over mild bumps.

idk when the shocks were changed because i havent had the truck very long. only since September 2011. Yea there is like that much clearance. And it doesnt happen when I go over bumps. I can just be cruising right along and it makes a "THUMP" noise and then my truck tries to die..

OK, I'm guessing it's engine related. Can you feel anything through the floorboards when it happens, like from the exhaust system?
