What size shocks do i need?

What size shocks do i need?

Postby SSSilverado23 [OP] » Sep 05 2012, 4:36am

I recently bought a truck that has a lift. Im not sure what lift is on it but im almost positive its a 4'' Knuckle lift in the front and 2'' blocks in the back. It needs shocks and i need to know if i need a longer shock or just a stock size shock for that kind of lift? Help would be much appreciated!

If you measure the shocks that are currently on the truck, you will get a pretty good idea of what size shocks you need. There are several cvompanies that are willing to help out with correct shock size for the amount of lift you have. Give them a call with the shock measurements.

Thought about measuring but figured they would be squished down a bit because they are mounted.

To know what size shocks you need, you will need to measure them compressed and extended from center loop to center loop. All you need to do it take the shocks off the truck and let it extend out (you might have to pull it a bit to get it fully extended). Then you want to measure it compressed, should be able to do this by hand. If not you can use a ratchet strap to compress the shock.
Take your time, it's not a very difficult job.
