You can mount any brand shock. No problem. I suggest, to spend alittle more and get a good shock though.

Well to be honest i already have new shocks on it. I just wanted to ask because after i got them installed i was curious about weather there were any special shocks that were specifically made for the Z71 package trucks, i know i probably should have looked into that before i got new shocks but my old ones were so bad that anything would be better than them. I am almost positive that they were still the stock shocks too, and my truck has 207000 miles on it now(i got it at 160K). Anyways the shocks i got are monroe sensa tracs, the guy at napa said they were the best a few years back but now the reflexes are.

Z71 shocks are different from the regular 4x4's but you're not required to put them back on. Any shock will work, and there are much better shocks out there, then the stock Z71's.
