For the most part they are, with the Sierra and the Silverado, but the Denali is more of a luxury ride. It still has a very impressive tow rating and I would have considered getting one if they weren't so expensive. That's why I focused on the Sierra and Silverado.. I like the trim better on the Sierra but I don't have any regrets at all and love my new Chevy :D

I have to say this was a good read; funny, witty, and suspenseful, not to mention very informative...

Be sure to let us know how it tows. I think it will be fine--perhaps a bit sluggish up a steep grade but please post in the summer after your trip.

2008 5.3 - 3:73 and not a problem. Trailer is 2011 Flagstaff 831FLSS just over 34 feet. Trailer Dry Weight is 6559 and carries an overall GVRW of 8764. This is my last summer with this set up - I have a 2011 GMC 1500 5.3 3:43 in the garage which as you all know is rated much higher than the silverado. Tranny temp on the 2008 has not exceeded 215 and typically hovers around 205 on full load up hill.

I have trailer brakes and a weight distribution hitch too and she stops as it should. If I carry water I am right at 7900lbs.

I have a 09 gmc 1500 crew cab with all the the same upgrades. I pull a 30 ft bunkhouse weighing 6800 dry with the reece friction control system. I just upgraded to the prodigy p3. Haven't used it yet, had the dealer installed brake controller and hoping for a better performance from the p3. I usually stay between 60 and 65 on the highway with no problems. However hills are a challenge at times. We don't usually travel to far to camp. I have thought about upgrading to 2500 hd but I don't want to lose my fuel mileage when not towing. It gets the job done for my needs.

5.3 v8 with hd cooling upgrade and 3.42 rear axle, 4x4 rated at 9500lbs. The 6.2l will give you a few hundred more pounds with the same upgrades.

I towed my uncles box food trailer, roughly 30' about 13k total weight and it towed great, but I wasn't going up hills too often. now I do have a 6.2 with HD towing package but I tow about 9k every weekend in the summer with this thing, I tow it with ease. but I do have the 6.2 so it is a lil different. I would say the 5.3 should tow at least 9k. I have seen some tow more. But I haven't personally done it.

I installed a Tenkosha P3 yesterday on my 2012 silverado CC, there was only one red wire near the battery to hook up

There are two wires. One is bundled up under the fuse boxed tucked away. One is for the controller and another to charge your battery in the trailer while you are driving.
