I pulled a 28' Fifth Jayco Eagle rated at 8400# dry with my '04 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3L running 3.73's and an Air-Lift kit from New Brunswick, Canada all the way to the bottom of Mississippi and back! Strain? yes, there was strain and I worked the engine pretty good on the hills of Pennsylvania but hey, that's why we run GM's, right?
When you trust 'em, you can work 'em and have no worries!

I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado LT 4x4 with a 3.73 rear axle I pull driveway 9900 pound fifth wheel without problems. I put airbags on the truck with about 35 pounds of pressure my RPMs never go above 3400 my transmission stays about 202-210 even going through the mountains in Northern Arkansas. The truck had integrated electric brakes already. It is only a 5.3 liter. I have pulled the truck and trailer from Kansas City Missouri to Alexandria Louisiana and got between 10 to 14 miles per gallon

Wonder what the payload is? That's great temps for that kind of weight!

Just towed 8000 lbs with my 2013 Silverado 1500 5.3L 3.42 GR with no issues. Steep hills you definitely noticed the trailer back there, but she pulled it and the temps were within normal ranges.

Those 35" tires will probably make you swear when towing.
There is always enough time to do it over again, but never enough time to do it right the first time.

Go get your rig weighed on the Cat truck scales & see what you have for CGVWR, front & rear axles & trailer axles.

The 14 and up V8 trucks have big 9.5 or larger 9.75 12 bolts, not the wimpy 8.6 10 bolt rears found in older trucks and 14 and up V6's

Folks, I know this is an old post, but is this true? 2014+ V8 trucks have a 12-bolt rear instead of the old 10-bolt?
