How do I know if I have the HD towing package? I bought my truck used and I really have no idea. I have a 2010 GMC 4x4 crew cab and I will be pulling a travel trailer with gear its about 7200 pounds. If I am reading the manual correctly, the max trailer weight is only 6,000 pounds without the HD package. Hope I bought enought truck!

Check this link first, which will show many of the VIN's. It does not seem to have some of the later 2010's, though.

If yours is not listed, you can ask your dealer to run a copy of your build sheet.

Just got off the phone with the dealer. Mine does have the HD tow package with 3.42 gear ratio. If I'm reading the manual correctly, thats a 9500 pound tow rating..Woot!
