Intergrated Brake Controller

Postby StarsnBars [OP] » Aug 20 2012, 3:34am

Towed my camper for the first time in my new truck this weekend.
2012 Chevy 2500 HD. It has the intergrated brake controller and park asst. Got a warning on the DIC saying, " Park Asst Blocked. See owners manual." This warning came on even though the park asst. was turned off before the hitch or trailer was hooked up. The warning lit up about a mile down the road. Trailer brakes worked. No problem there.
Anyone experence this warning with the park asst. turned off towing? Couldnt get much out of the owners manual and planning on calling my service department tommorrow, but I figured I would post this to see if anyone has had this issue.
Thanks,,,

yes I get the samething everytime I tow...
Not an issue, owners manual just wants you to know its blocked.

I got use to it after a few days/times towing

That is normal. Dumbest system ever created, why have the button inside to turn it off when you get the "Park assist blocked" anyways???? I always comment, " no s**t, I blocked it".

I'm going to ask for the park assist system to be turned off when I bring mine in for it's first service. I have a rear camera to help me see what's back there, no need for annoying beeping and warning messages.

Thanks for the replies all. Sure would like to see the message disappear on the DIC, but knowing now its a worthless message when towing, I guess I can live with it,, :x

Yes, we can all change the DIC screen, but we shouldn't have to when you have a button to turn the sensors off but still get a warning. It's kind of like turning up the radio to hide sound of a bad wheel bearing, you don't hear/see the issue, but it is still there. Sorry, it's just annoying.

Re: Intergrated Brake Controller

Postby 08AllTerrain » Aug 22 2012, 5:52am

I hated the back up sensors on my parents vehicles so i ordered my truck without. When i got to the lake with my family i hate backing into the the water with those sensors on my dads 6.2. I mean i kick myself for not having them on my 3/4ton at times cause i cant see everything cause of the size but when im pulling i hate when shit goes off.

How did you like pulling with a 6.0? What kind of mileage did ya get? I would love to see if the 2012s pull any better than my 2010?

It was a short first trip. Just got the 500 miles on it. Pulled my 7500 lb TT like it wasnt there. Very stable.. Taking a 200 mile trip next month for its first real shake down. Now I know why they call them HD's :D
