Becareful, those smaller V8's don't tow as well as the 5.3. You will feel that on any hills. Look into a programmer with a tow program on it. It should help.

ANY DEVIATION IS A PROBLEM.

Are you going to be climbing many hills or steep inclines?

If it doesn't have the proper heavy duty cooling and towing package, yes you will have trouble. It will MOVE the trailer down the road ok but there is much more to towing a trailer than that. As the gentleman said above; Hilly terrrain, very hot weather can really cause problems. Also please consider, you WILL have much more total weight in the end with additional camping equipment, cargo in the back AND passengers! Yes you have to count the passengers weight too! Your truck holds 5 or 6 people? GM figures the average weight of a "passenger" as 150 pounds per person when they Engineer it. In this day and age, we all know that doesn't apply in the real world. Your owners manual is available on here. Review the towing information and take it from there. I wish I had a dollar for every investigation that I did, only to find the customer under equipped his vehicle and overloaded it.
