4x4 Problem

No light up or engage

4x4 Problem

Postby afausta [OP] » Jan 12 2011, 5:50am

I have a 1989 Chevy Scottsdale 4x4. All of the sudden when I shift it into 4x4 the light does not come on and it does not engage. I think that it might be the actuator but not sure. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks

So the shift lever on the floor "feels" ok? No mechanical issue with the lever?

It might move side to side a little more than it used to but i got under the truck and everything is hooked up as far as mechanical parts.

Seems to me like, if it has the electrical engage on front axel when it engages it turns the 4x4 light on. Could be wire off or cold "takes awhile to engage" or bad part on front.
Thank you

The actuator work with air-operated relay system that controls the rear brakes of a truck or tractor-trailer..
so check the breaks properly might there would be a problem in that...

Lets keep in mind that Julin is posting from Mumbai India and does not own a truck so I'm not sure what his intentions are here.

I took out the actuator tonight and hooked power up to it and it works. I tested the pigtail to the actuator and there is not power going into it.
