clicking sound when driving

clicking sound when driving

Postby DC2012silversierra [OP] » Jun 14 2012, 5:05am

I picked up my 2012 sierra 1500 5.3L extended cab just after memorial day. about a week ago i noticed two clicking sounds. It happens after shifting out of park into drive, then i'll hear click, a few seconds later a second click. always two clicks and only after the truck is shifted from park to drive. taking off from stop lights after driving a few minutes there is no click sound. Is this normal for 4 x 4s? or should i take it back to the dealer right away?

Thanks in advance

My '06 does this. I have drum brakes on the rear and just assumed it was the mechanism releasing. It's a very minor little click on mine.

I know exactly what you are talking about. My 11' does the same thing. Sometimes I notice that click if I have my windows down and I am driving in the city at slower speeds. I will have to pay attention again when I exactly hear it.

Yup, my 2010 does it too. Only happens after I first go from reverse into drive. I'm curious to see if someone can tell us what it is. I can slightly feel the click in the gas pedal too.

I just dropped my truck off this morning for a bunch of things for them to look at. I did ask them what the tapping in the gas pedal was, the service writer had not heard of it but is going to ask the tech. I forgot to mention to them about the clicking noise it makes when going into drive or reverse, I will have to ask about that when I go pick it up.

I think so too. If it was something serious it probably would have broke by now. I'm approaching 20000K.

I noticed a faint clicking noise coming from my dash today, reminds me of a relay being activated. But it only seems to click when I hit a bump.
