I was going to change my filter, but cant figure out what fiter to get. Can I determine this from my VIN #?

No you can't but if you have the VIN, a GM dealer parts dept can use it to get appropriate parts. Its not coded in the VIN but the VIN is tied into the parts system to the content of what your vehicle was made with. Its how the GM parts system in designed to get the correct part. Of course you are going to pay the confiscatory GM prices for those parts.

Maybe I can help in determining what filter.

Is the truck new body style (07 up to 13) or classic (07 back to 99)?

Do you have a 4 sp or 6 sp trans?

On the parts ID Label in the glove box, list all the codes that start with M, they are related to transmission.

Or you can go here AC Delco Parts Lookup You will see a box to enter you vin to narrow down parts to your vehicle from build records.
