Feels Like Engine Brake in Reverse

Feels Like Engine Brake in Reverse

Postby ZSilv71 [OP] » Oct 20 2013, 2:31am

I felt something weird this morning on my truck when I was backing it into my drive way. I put the truck in reverse and began to accelerate and as I lifted off the pedal the typical feeling I am used to is the truck coasting out. It almost felt like something was slightly holding it up. I just purchased this truck so I don't know all of the normalcies quite yet. Is this normal or something to be worried about? I was thinking anyway about having the trans and diffs serviced since it had been a little bit since they were done. It doesn't do this all the time. It is very random. Absolutely no problems going forward, shifts fine into all gears. Any help would be great.

No I don't use the e-brake. I don't feel anything when going forward.

A sticking slip yoke can cause it to feel like that.

I had same feeling in my sierra today also.. But mine was due to having spun the tires a few sec before and rear locker was still engeged. So while i backed up into my parking spot ( yes, wheels were turned) felt like resistance against engine. Not sure if thats a possibility for you or not.

Is there any test that I can do to try and single out the issue?

Read this this morning on a forum. Any validity to it?

"05 Avalanche starting to have an issue with reverse. Doesn't do it 100% of th time and seems to do it mostly after the truck is warm. It will start to reverse and then it feels like a transbrake is holding it.
Next time you have this problem shift it in to neutral...If moves forward the forward clutches are staying applied Most likely from a internal crossleak feeding the forward clutches."

It sounds like this guys problem are more serious than mine but kind of a similar situation.
