Somehow I maneged to break my C.V. axel off my front diff. I need help trying to figure out if I am able to to take it out and put a straight axel in it. I drive an 06 silverado 1500.

Can you post some pics?


I think it would be cheaper and easier to just replace it. The independent suspension system works great until you start doing crazy things with it (like rock crawling and tractor pulling). I think I've heard somewhere that companies make kits to reinforce weak parts, too.

Are you asking about a solid straight axle conversion?

this is off topic but just wondering do you have a leveling kit? or a lift kit that caused the issue...also never mind i see you said 06 totally different setup on the front end with torsion keys

Yeah i was wondering if i was able to do a solid straight axel
. I have a 6 inch lift by fabtech and it puts my cv axel at alil bit of an angle. I'm trying to figure out how to post a pic on this page so ill get one up asap.

i have 3.5 inch lift on the new body style and everyone says i gotta drop down my differential to take the angle out but damn dude that sucks. u do alot of off roading?

not too much because this is my everyday vehicle. but this happend when i was going through the woods trying to get to my deer stand and had to lock it up. I have broken 3 cv axel's since i have had this truck but nthing like this.

damn man that isnt fun. honestly maybe a drop down bracket will help you out im looking into getting these made at the moment for my truck

Yeah i'm thinking about lowering my T-bars down all the way and than putting a 3 inch block in the rear to lower the rear end and level it out. Hopefuly it will straighten my cv axels out.
