Postby busted081500 [OP] » Feb 16 2012, 2:10am

Ok I have a 2008 silverado 6 inch lift 35 inch tires current gear ratio is 3.73. I thought 4.10 would put back to factory but I called four wheel parts and they say 4.56s is what everyone recommends for 35 inch tires? to me that seems to low...any oppinions? facts? Input? please respond soon I need to order tonight so I can install them this weekend.

You can check the forum search, someone posted a formula to determine the exact gear you would need (I forget where it is). If it were me I'd go with the 4.56's.

Few things to factor in before you decide. Are your tires a true 35 ? Do you offroad alot, some, any ? How about tow. Heavy, light, any ? Highway driving , alot , alittle. 4.56 --- good for alot of offroading, not much highway driving, great for getting to the next stop light first.
4.10 gears -- good balance for about every use. My pick would be , leave the 3.73's or bump to the 4.10's at the most

tires are mickey thompson mtz's so I guess they are 34.9 supposedly off the website. I do want the truck to be driveable......I am just trying to get back to stock....offroading used to go alllll the time not in this truck only had it on the beach once. I would like to be able to drive long distances as well I race MX and am usually in my truck. I have tried a few calculators but cant get them to come out right....

My 2 cents,,,,, 4.10's. will be fine. Wont feel much of a difference from what you have now.
It comes down to whats important to you. Quicker in town truck with the .56's or good all around preformance ,tow, highway mpg's, etc on the .10's.
Hope you get a few more answers to help you out before you decide. I know you want to order, but maybe wait and call some tranny shops, gear shops, a few more online rear gear sites, and get a better understanding before you buy.
I run 3.42's on 34's and wouldnt change a thing..

i think you will be happy with the 4:56 4:10 would be fine but with the 6in lift and 35's the extra torque from a 4:56 wont hurt a bit

4.56 will be overkill, there is always 4 lo if you need more torque
