Just thought I'd share with everyone.

Ok so a few days ago i posted about my Rear Differential Leaking. Well after some Help from fellow members got the bolts Torqued to the right settings. However...still leaking WTF!!! Soooooooooo today I crawled under for ANOTHER looksee. Big 'ol rust spot came off to uncover a hole which is causing the leak.. Horray!! I FINALLY figured out the problem and can get this ordeal finished. Went to Stealership to get new cover and gasket. Well GM has 3 size rear ends for my VIN. 9,10 or 10.5, and 11.5. Which i did not know. Well this explains my previous throwdown months ago at 3 local Auto Stores telling me the gasket in the computer was the right one for my truck. ANYHOO... Nearest cover is 55 miles from my house and gasket is just down the street. Getting it all fixed up tommorrow after I get the cover. Just thought I'd share this Lovely little experience with everyone especially the 2500HD and 8.1L owners on the off chance you all have to do the same some day.

nope not a dually. After some of the headaches ive had with getting the right parts for things its almost like this was a custom built truck or Just one they didn't make very many of. I don't know... there is nothing too "Special" bout it. I do know that out of all the 2500HD made in 2003 my engine 8.1L is in only 5% of em Maybe this has something to do with it being difficult to get the right parts.

Update: got the new Diff cover this am and asked that parts guy if the 11.5" rear end was "normal" for my 3/4 he said nope. it usually in the 1 tons. well that explains ALOT. Got er all put back on and filled with gear oil. and after searching on here this morning about the how to's ya'll got me to clean my throttle body and MAF. so all said and done pretty productive day. And from this experience makes me think this truck is a one of a kind and/or special ordered. WTF!! leave it to me to buy a "special" truck. LOL
