Rear seal on tranny leaking

The seal could be worn and it could cause it to leak if not in regular use.

Ok I can not find anyone that can tell me what seal I need. Autozone has three and they do not know which one. I can't take the old one out and take it in and get the right one because Autozone doesn't have any and they have to order it. This needs to be done in one day being I drive the truck every day.

This one says under notes "shift selector null"

This one says under notes "extension housing null"

This one says under notes "extension housing seal transmission model 4L80-E, except booted" (I am thinking it is this one) This one also comes booted, but mine currently is not booted.

For any one who has changed it can you tell me which seal is the correct one?

Ok nevermind on those pictures. I have a 4spd automatic. Is that the 4L80-E tranny or is that the 5spd? the output shaft seal is the extension housing one right? There are 3 others, one for shift selector, torque converter, and one for 4L80-E.

This should be what you need. You do not have to use the bushing that comes with it if yours is ok.

Thank you. That is exactly what I needed to know. Will be replacing it Saturday while the driveshaft is out.

It's not a bad job. Just be careful not to damage the area in the extension housing where the seal presses in or it will leak.

You will probably have to take it to a machine shop and have it pressed apart.

Damn really? Well I couldn't get the rear seal for the tranny. Takes 2 to 3 days to order it so I guess I will just get that and take the truck in and have them replace both.
