Reverse out on 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 6.0l V8 Auto

Postby fbowiecounty [OP] » Jul 11 2012, 9:02pm

Just lost reverse on 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 (not HD) Crew Cab, V8, 6.0L, automatic. No previous transmission problems, fluid clean w/no smell and perfect level, no leaks or other transmission related problems. Do have power locks that lock when truck is put in gear and unlock when out of gear and have had trouble with them and also trouble with rear window rolling up and down on its own and not rolling up for me. Was backing a heavy trailer put in drive to straighten up and then went back to reverse and was like it was in neutral. No noise or indication anything went wrong. Wondering if this could be something other than a center support bolt or burnt up reverse band??? With no signs and/or warnings just seems to me it would be something simple like a fuse, wire....something! Hell Anything other than need for a rebuild! Sucks being a female carrying a vehicle in for repairs where I live and I can not afford to run in blind!! Any help or advice would certainly be appreciated or if someone would like to make me an offer on the truck "as is" I would be thrilled to sell it rather than deal with local repair shops!! YEAH, IT IS THAT BAD HERE!!!

well I see it has been a little while that this has been posted, but I thought I would see if I can help just in case you haven't got it fixed yet... with all those electrical gremlins going on at once it sounds like there is one big connector somewhere that has come loose. I'm not super familiar with that year of truck, but as chevy goes, there will usually be one big block of fuses and wires under the hood, one under the dash, and as far as your reverse goes there should be a few wires running down to the tranny. The wires running to the tranny just have little clips holding them on, and I've seen dozens of people solve transmission related problems by crawling under and hooking the plug back up...Maybe try sliding underneath and give that a shot.
