Service 4WD

Service 4WD

Postby starterz [OP] » Dec 30 2010, 7:00pm

Allright, So yesterday i went up to Palmer, Alaska to pick up the 4WD switch from a junk yard. Cost me $40 + Gas. I brought it back and installed it. It did nothing. My Service 4WD light turned off, but my lights that indicate what drive I'm in still doesnt work. She is still in 2WD. Im Lost, Confused, and flippin irratated. What do you think is the problem now?

If you are willing to make the drive to Wasilla go to Master Car Auto, it is right next to Shucks. Ask for Rob (owner) and tell him Andy Reimer sent you. He will take the time to help you out and tell you exactly what the issue is.

Did someone scan it or diagnose it for you? i know the encoder motor on the transfer case was a big issue for not switching, normally they caught the guy in 4wd and would not shift out.

My '03 Avalanche had that issue. It got stuck in 4WD a on several occasions. It took GM a long time to diagnose the issue. Not sure if they ever issued a recall, but at least they identified the issues. I agree with gmctruckguy -- you may want to have it scanned, rather than trying to throw parts at it. Good Luck!

Re: Service 4WD

Postby starterz [OP] » Jan 04 2011, 1:04am

Well, I got her fixed. I went through hell with this. When my service 4WD light went on i replaced what I might have thought was wrong. I've checked the 4WD fuze but found it to be ok. I replaced it with a 25 amp Fuze and nothing happend. I've read many other blogs and most of them said replace the 4wd Switch. So I did that... GUESS WHAT!!! NOTHING!!! my Service 4WD went off, but everything was still not working. My next step was to replace the Front Differential Accuator. GUESS WHAT!!! NOTHING!!! I said f*** it and waited till I got it back to the shop today and guess what, I found out that there is another fuse that needed to be replaced! F*** me, I could have save $210 by replacing the "ATC" fuse. This fuse is located under the hood on the left hand side of the truck in the Big Fuse box. I've read hundreds of forums/blogs and nothing said replace the "ATC" fuse. This pissed me off this afternoon. BUT NOW IT IS BLOGGED!!! Service 4WD light Defeated. F*** You
