I took the truck out again on the freeway tonight, and I feel like I'm back to square 2. I can get it to lock at slow speeds, if the truck is warmed up, but then if I pound the throttle and it unlocks, I can't get it to lock again. On the other hand, if I slowly increase my speed to 63-64 MPH, then it will stay locked, and everything's fine, as long as I don't go faster than that.

If no one has any ideas, I will probably go back to the shop that flushed out my transmission and ask them to go over it again, when I get some $$$ in my pocket.

I bit the bullet, and called that shop back. Over the phone, they think there's a missfire, but who knows. They'll check it over on Friday ... I feel like a parent with a really sick kid. AUGHHH! At least they're doing it for free- best shop in the world!

You know, that shop that put on the plow did a ton of electrical work, and the problem started around when they did the plow install. I wonder if that's related... wouldn't surprise me a bit :x .

The local repair shop didn't know what's wrong with it, so they told me to take it to a tranny shop. I'll do that next week... the saga continues. Thankfully, it's not getting worse, so if it is super-expensive, I may just wait until I have more $$$.

Sounds like an excuse to go buy a new truck. You can use it as a tax write off for next year.

I like your thinking...

Talked to the technician at the shop. He said the computer says the tq isn't locking, and isn't being told to lock. Sounds like an electronic issue, but he said it could be the tq is dying. But, since it ain't really broke (just above 62 MPH), he said I could just leave it alone. I found a reputable trans shop nearby, who said that they'd look at it for free next week. We'll see what happens... About how much is a new tq\installation?

You need to get it fixed. If you drive it a lot in overdrive without the converter locking up it will cause the transmission to overheat. You know what heat does to them.

That's true. Except for two things- I always drive at a speed slow enough so that it stays locked (it sucks to stay at 60 :X!), and the tranny temp never rises much at all. Still, something is definitely wrong, so that's why it's going to the 2nd shop next week.

Did they say this is purely mechanical or it may be possible that the tuner you had on it could be a culprit. I have been following your threads and it would be good to know what the cause of this is. I was thinking about getting a programmer but stuff like this make me think twice.

They couldn't tell exactly, so that's why they're sending me to a dedicated trans shop. I had the programmer installed in August, and it started acting up late in the Fall. It does do better without the programmer on, though. However, I had a ton of electrical work done by the plow shop, around the same time the transmission started acting funny. Coincidence? We'll see...
