Trans cooler line leak

Postby 6Sixathome [OP] » Dec 26 2011, 10:37pm

Anyone know of a way to fix this without replacing the whole line from the radiator to the trans? The coupling where the rubber hose is crimped is leaking, it's the one right above the orange rag.

How bad is it leaking? From what I've heard, most GM trucks will have that issue. My cooler lines have oil on them, but I never see any drips.

It's slow enough to were you can't see it drip but if I drive for a little while there is a drip or two on the skid plate. It just started dripping as the weather got colder. I wonder if a good hose clamp would work or just make it worse :?

I'd would assume ther are like other hoses made that way. You can take the line/hose off the truck and use a chisle to break the crimped part off. If you didn't damage the hose while removing the crimped part you can get a good quality clamp (like the ones for high pressure fuel lines) and clamp it like that. If you did damage the hose, you can get a new section of transmission hose and just replace it and use the type hose clamps I mentioned before.

That's agreat idea 8-) . Now once I take it off the truck and the fluid drips out will I have to "purge" the air out before I hook it back up to the radiator side?

No purge necessary, it will do it itself.
