Trans temp gauge

Trans temp gauge

Postby Candlemoth [OP] » Mar 05 2013, 5:17am

I was going to upgrade my gauge cluster until I found this under 30 dollar option.
I think it only works on Android phones but Im not sure.
First download the Torque Pro app for 4.99(the original free Torque app doesnt have trans temp).
Then order a ELM 327 blue tooth OBD2 adapter from Amazon or Ebay. I got the BAFX for 23.99 from Amazon.
You simply plug in the adapter to your OBD2 port and blue-tooth the info to your smart phone.
Appearantly, I wasted money on my OBD2 scanner because this set-up will do far more and it scans while driving and gives a ton of info.

I havent got it set up yet but Ill post results later. Everything I researched says its a great set-up.

So...I thought that this was such an inexpensive option I opted to try it. So I got my stuff in on Friday. First off...WOW...it is amazing what this thing will tell you about your engine and what not...however..Evidently mine does not have a place in the ECU for trans. temp b/c mine will not give that reading. However, it does tell you, O2 sensor voltage, CFM passing through the MAF, air intake temp, engine load, throttle position, gallons per hour/ minute being used...and a whole slew of other things..So..bottom line..was it worth it for me? HELL YES... :-)

My trans temp didnt work at first either. I got it to work by putting in method 3. It only shows about 89F but I was driving in near freezing temps. Make sure you have all the updates downloaded also.

Alright i figured it out...fyi... That method 3 your using is a duplicate reading of the coolant temp. The general motors method 1 & 2 tranny fluid temp gives the correct reading. It is under the extra PID inputs for general motors.
