What trans do I have?

Postby mud digger [OP] » Jan 04 2012, 2:56pm

I am in the process of fixing up an 84 K10. How can I figure out what trans I have. Are there any numbers on the trans itself? Any help will do.

Hi Mud Digger,

as LZN stated, more info is needed. Manual or Automatic? Original trans or replacement? Is it an Overdrive Automatic, or 4 speed/5speed manual??

We can help if we know what you've got...

Take care, :-)

My guess would be a 700R4. Check this out: http://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-transmiss ... cation.php

Hey Aste,

You beat me to it! :D As to the question. The tranny pan will tell you what kind of trans you have...
I will agree with Aste. If it's an overdrive tranny, the 700R4's were the transmissions of choice for GM back then, along with 350cid small block...

BTW - There are a lot of re-build kits and upgrades for that tranny...

I hope this helped, :-)

Thanks guys. I think it is the 700R4 just by looking at the pan picture. I will check it out later on tonight.
