Inside glove box is a list of options codes. Find all the start with an M?? and list them. That's the best way to know what is in there.

There were 2 models used, NV3500 & NV4500 according to my sources. NV - New Venture Gear

nv3500 is all aluminum and has integral bell housing

nv4500 is cast iron main case and has a separate bell housing

Also each has different fluid requirements.

The NV4500LD was used in GM gas and diesel applications, and Dodge V8 gas applications. The bottom pic. The other NV3500 is a light duty transmission.

GM Light truck

General Motors used the NV4500 as RPO MT8 & MW3 in 8500 + GVWR light trucks.
1992–1994 GMC & Chevrolet C/K 2500 and 3500
1995–2002 GMC & Chevrolet C/K 2500 and 3500
2004–2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500 and 2007 Silverado Classic
2004–2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500

So look for MT8 & MW3 on the option code label in the glove box.
